Timeouts and truncation
Section titled “Timeouts and truncation”Open Tools in the left menu:
- Timeout — empty means the built-in default; a custom value is used as-is.
- Output truncation — beyond the line or byte limit, output is truncated and the full version is written to disk, so a single command cannot flood the context.
- Clearing a field restores the default; changes apply immediately.
Use in an agent
Section titled “Use in an agent”In the Agents editor, tick tools under Built-in tools. Follow least privilege.
Advice
Section titled “Advice”- Read-only tasks do not need file-writing or command tools.
- Prefer background execution for long work.
- Pair chatty commands (logs, builds) with truncation and read the spilled file when needed.
A tool is unavailable — confirm it is ticked and that the session has a sandbox (execution tools need one).
Commands time out — use background execution or raise the timeout.
Output is truncated — expected; the full output is on disk for the agent to read.
